Position Information Position Title: Writing Tutor (Davis Tutoring and Writing Center) Requisition Number: H01583P Position Category: Hourly/Work Study Campus Location: Weber State Davis – Layton, UT Hours per week: 7-20 Months per year: Alternate work schedule Pay Grade: Salary Hourly Pay Rate: $14.50
Job Summary / Basic Function Tutor WSU students in writing skills and provide support for student writing needs at the Davis Learning Center as part of the Learning Support department. Tutoring is done on an individual appointment and/or drop‑in basis. Availability for appointments is determined by the tutor. We require and provide training in tutoring techniques.
Required Qualifications
Must be a WSU student in good academic standing.
Faculty recommendation or endorsement.
Strong writing proficiency.
Writing sample (see instructions in Notes to Applicant).
A working knowledge of or interest in learning key writing concepts.
Good listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Willingness to contribute beyond the basic tutoring requirements.
Completed ENGL 1010 & 2010 or equivalent.
GPA 3.0 or higher.
