URMCC: Conservation Land Steward – AmeriCorps
The Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission (URMCC) is a federal agency created by Congress with the passage of the Central Utah Project Completion Act of 1992. The Mitigation Commission coordinates and completes measures authorized by the Act to mitigate impacts on fish, wildlife and recreation resulting from the construction and operation of federal water projects in Utah, particularly the Central Utah Project (CUP).
This individual placement position is part of the Provo River Restoration Project (PRRP) in the Heber Valley. The role provides direct services to our community by helping to oversee 1,000+ acres of public riverine land. It offers an opportunity to learn about riparian restoration, public land management and environmental education. The position contributes to the stewardship of the ongoing Provo River Delta Restoration at the mouth of the Provo River at Utah Lake and management and outreach activities on the Jordan River (Pia Okwai).
Responsibilities
Become a UCC AmeriCorps Conservation Land Steward and provide direct services to our community on 1,000+ acres of public riverine land.
Participate in riparian restoration projects under the supervision of the Provo River Restoration Project Biological Technician.
Contribute to management and outreach activities on the Jordan River (Pia Okwai) and the Provo River Delta Restoration.
Program Benefits Training, living allowance, and an education award upon successful completion of service.
