Principal Duties and Responsibilities Mercy High School is seeking a dedicated History teacher to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher covering a maternity leave. This position will begin in early March 2026 through end of school year May 2026. This role covers courses such as U.S. History, World History, and/or Government. The ideal candidate will maintain strong instruction, build positive relationships, and keep students engaged in meaningful learning.
Requirements
Deliver lessons and assessments using provided curriculum and materials
Maintain a structured, supportive, and respectful classroom environment
Provide daily instruction, feedback, and classroom supervision
Collaborate with department staff as needed
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Implement lesson plans
Bachelor’s degree required
Teaching certification preferred
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Previous experience as a long-term substitute teacher a plus
