The right Entertainment Outdoor Lighting Technician will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role exists to provide Dollywood’s Entertainment Department with a high level of entertainment technicians who work in guest view and behind the scenes to install, maintain, and troubleshoot any and all aspects of outdoor theme park lighting, A/V systems, and any other entertainment related technology. Dollywood Parks and Resorts Specialty Lighting Technicians are skilled control system fabricators, as well as first responders to any technology failure within their vast purview. Entertainment Specialty Lighting Technicians take a proactive approach by continuously monitoring the complete control system, and by maintaining a rigorous systems upkeep initiative. This position is demanding and is also essential for exemplary quality in theme park entertainment. This position expects a high-level attention to detail and an unsurpassed level of excellence to Dolly Parton and Dollywood Parks and Resorts.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Perform primary technician duties as assigned, making calculated and situational decisions to complete tasks in a responsible time for Dollywood Parks and Resorts Entertainment Department. Technicians will work with themed outdoor lighting, festival installations, property wide atmospheric sound, show set deployment and assembly.

Provide continued maintenance to entertainment system infrastructures, which includes but not limited to, Dollywood Parks and Resorts themed outdoor lighting systems, festival icons, atmospheric sound systems, and show sets.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair entertainment lighting control systems, static lighting fixtures, moving head fixtures, professional sound systems, video projection systems and DMX infrastructure issues as well as DMX controlled fixtures.

Troubleshoot, and diagnose common line voltage problems and submit repair requests as necessary.

Perform routine maintenance of entertainment equipment to meet high safety standards and safe use conditions.

Utilize heavy machinery for installation and transportation of entertainment equipment.

Provide entertainment technical support to all Dollywood Parks and Resorts venues as needed.

Able and willing to share knowledge and best use cases with other technical team members.

Wear Dollywood Entertainment provided costume or uniform.

Assist in other areas of Entertainment Division as directed.

Maintain an orderly, neat, safe, and well-maintained work space.

Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, trucks) to transport personnel and/or task supply items.

Education and Experience Required

Minimum 18 years of age

Must have experience with entertainment and/or architectural lighting fixtures

Knowledge of entertainment and/or architectural lighting control infrastructure and control systems

Knowledge of installation, operation and repair of modern moving-light fixtures preferred

Experience in programming lighting control software and show control systems like Paradigm, Mosaic, and Hog preferred

Experience in stage set construction or general construction preferred

Experience and working knowledge of electricity preferred

Experience with industry specific software such as VectorWorks, QLab, QSys, and Dante preferred

Must be able to operate a computer and be knowledgeable of general use programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel

Must successfully complete a pre-employment offer background check and drug screening

Driver's license and acceptable driving record required

Able to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid driver’s license and insurance

Ability to be on feet for extended times and on various surfaces

Able to work extended hours in dim light conditions.

Ability to work on various surfaces, to include walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, crawling, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and moving about tight spaces.

Have manual dexterity for operating various hand tools and power tools (ie: air compressors, generators, saws, drills, impacts, wrenches, screwdrivers, shovels, etc.)

Able to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 50 lbs) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 120 lbs with assistance)

Able to work at heights up to and excess of 90 ft

Able to endure approved exposure levels to various chemicals found in cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, lubricants, atmospheric effects solutions, etc.

Able to assist with any Entertainment special projects as need which includes but not limited to; set/prop builds, themed decor, events and concerts, and entertainment water-based applications.
