The Lost Wombat located in historic downtown North Wilkesboro in Wilkes County, NC is currently hiring a line cook. The Line Cook at The Lost Wombat is responsible for preparing meals to the highest standards of quality and presentation. The Line Cook will be responsible for setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies and ensuring that food is prepared according to recipes, portioned correctly, and presented attractively.
Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use.
Prepare all menu items according to recipes and standards set by the restaurant.
Stock and maintain work areas with appropriate supplies.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow safety guidelines set by the restaurant when handling food and kitchen equipment.
Maintain a clean working environment including washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, sweeping floors, etc.
Monitor food storage areas to keep them clean and organized.
Ensure that all food is stored in accordance with health code regulations.
Assist other cooks when needed or requested by management.
Minimum Job Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on concrete surfaces.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume of guests.
Monitor and follow the instructions of the general manager and/or owner.
Basic computer skills.
Previous experience as a line cook in a fast paced kitchen.
