CLASSIFICATION: SUPPORT STAFF
JOB TITLE: CUSTODIAN CALENDAR: 2385PT PART-TIME OR 2612H FULL TIME (12 MONTH) SALARY: GRADE 109 (SUPPORT HOURLY) Effective July 1, 2006, a post-offer physical and drug screening test is required for this position
Hours: 8-hour shift per day, 1:00pm - 9:30pm
Job Goal: Maintain a safe, clean, and attractive physical plant.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
Previous custodial experience desired
Satisfactory criminal background check
Core Job Functions:
Sweep, dust, vacuum, scrub, wax, and polish the floors and surfaces
Wash windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment
Cleans assigned areas to prescribed standards and requirements
Accurately maintains and cleans custodial equipment
Empty trash receptacles
Perform minor repairs
Move furniture and equipment based on the needs of the facility
Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance
Inspect all fire equipment on campus and maintain records of inspection
Report safety/security hazards and needs for major repairs in an expeditious manner
Secures the facility, ensuring building is locked/unlocked as required
Handle emergency custodial duties for principals, teachers, and staff
Follow district policies as outlined
Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors

Physical Requirements – Heavy Work:
Ability to work extended periods of time in extreme temperatures (cold salad/sandwich prep, inventory for freezer & coolers)
Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable to the job.
Employee must be able to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing various duties, including but not limited to push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines.
Employee must stand constantly and walk frequently, lifting items of various sizes, up to 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to lift safely.
Employee may rarely be required to climb ladders, to perform various stocking, inventory, cleaning or maintenance tasks
Employees may be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood‑borne pathogens, workplace restrictions, cold and/or hot temperatures, and loud noises
