Essential Job Duties Studios Student Assistants help create a welcoming environment in the Libraries technology spaces by providing excellent customer service and specialized technical assistance to NC State students, faculty, and staff. The Studios include the Makerspace, Gaming & VR Studio, and Digital Media Lab at the Hill Library and the Media Studios and the Gaming and Esports Lab at the Hunt Library. Student Assistants staff these spaces, helping users with technologies including 3D printing, electronics prototyping, sewing, video editing, 3D scanning, audio production, graphic design, VR, PC and video gaming, streaming software, and 3D modeling. They are responsible for greeting visitors, answering questions and providing introductions to these spaces, as well as handling reservations of dedicated workstations and media booths. Students also work on projects to support the spaces, including developing and teaching workshops, editing podcasts and videos, and exploring new technologies.

Qualifications We are looking for someone with interest or familiarity in any combination of the following skills: audio/music production, graphic design, photography, video editing, 3D design, digital fabrication, crafting, game design, gaming platforms, streaming tools, knowledge of common gaming and esports titles or software, and web development. A successful candidate should be comfortable with technology (software and hardware) and exhibit flexibility and willingness to learn new skills and take on new tasks.

Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student.

Student Assistants must be capable of learning policies and multi‑step procedures, and be comfortable working without continuous supervision. Students should be comfortable interacting with a variety of patrons coming from all academic disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels. Consideration and work schedule will be based on availability; may include nights, weekends, and University holidays.

Compensation & Working Schedule Anticipated Hiring Range: $13/hour

Work Schedule: Varies (Sunday – Saturday 10:00 am – 10:00 pm)
