Special Education Teacher

to provide supportive instruction to middle school‑aged students.

In this role, you will support 7th and 8th grade students with diverse learning needs by co‑teaching in core academic classes, delivering targeted small‑group instruction, and implementing strategies that promote engagement, skill development, and successful inclusion in a structured and supportive middle school environment.

Location: In-person (no hybrid or remote options) in Cook County, IL

Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:25am‑3:15pm

Start Date: November 2025

End Date: June 2026

Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours per week

Grade Level: Middle School, 7th & 8th grade

Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans, modify curriculum, and track student progress for middle school learners.

Support 7th and 8th grade students with diverse learning needs by co‑teaching in core academic classes and differentiating instruction to meet individual goals.

Utilize data‑driven interventions and evidence‑based instructional strategies to promote academic growth, skill acquisition, and increased engagement.

Provide targeted small‑group and individualized instruction to strengthen academic, social, and emotional development while managing student behavior and fostering inclusion.

Create a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes independence, self‑advocacy, and positive peer interactions.

Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to ensure a cohesive and aligned approach to student learning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.

Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education Endorsement in the state of Illinois.

Prior experience supporting students with diverse learning needs in special education or inclusive classroom settings; experience working with middle school students preferred.
