Responsibilities

breadth, depth and currency of knowledge appropriate to the assignment

proficiency in written and oral communication

effective bibliographic instruction, including reference interview techniques

worksite control appropriate to the library environment

relevant group or one-to-one presentation

referral to out-of-library resources when appropriate

documented, relevant and timely evaluation of student performance when appropriate

Demonstrate concern for student success as evidenced by exhibiting and documenting courtesy, respect and professionalism in relationships with students, staff and faculty.

Participate in curriculum development and serve on departmental, division, college and district committees as necessary; engage in professional development activities.

Participate in co‑curricular activities, including planning, implementing and teaching special programs designed to support student success.

Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes and the assessment cycle.

Maintain formal office and campus hours; attend department and division meetings.

Keep current knowledge of instructional methods and emerging technologies pertinent to the assignment; apply them efficiently and timely.

Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities.

Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critique of assignments and discussions.

Develop culturally relevant course content, responsive pedagogical techniques and practices for engaging diverse students; demonstrate experience with under‑represented groups.

Work cooperatively with staff and students.

Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the contract.

Special Requirements

All degrees and coursework must be from accredited post‑secondary institutions.

Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s in Library Science, Library and Information Science, OR equivalent education, training, employment and professional experience.

Commitment to diversity; demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

Desirable Qualifications

Academic library faculty experience.

Knowledge of integrated library systems (ILS) and/or library services platforms (LSP). Experience with discovery services, link resolvers, proxy servers, and digital repositories.

Experience with disproportionately impacted communities with a focus on social justice, equity, and achievement.

Knowledge of AngularJS, JSON, JQuery, XML/XSLT.

Experience with vendor support for third‑party systems (e.g., hosted EZProxy, OCLC, SpringShare).

Experience with authoring and editing HTML and CSS.

Experience customizing end‑user interfaces for licensed electronic resources (EBSCO, ProQuest, etc.).

Knowledge of web accessibility standards and ADA compliance.

Ability to participate in liaison programs for research consultation, collections, instruction and outreach.

Experience with collection development and working closely with academic departments.
