Overview USU Extension in Salt Lake County is seeking multiple individuals to serve as Community Event Implementation Assistants to support the delivery of educational programs across the Salt Lake area. We are looking for people that are interested in working with children and families, who want to engage in community outreach activities, and who enjoy working as part of a team. This work will primarily be on Monday to Thursday evenings. Work schedules are based on individuals' schedules and the number of hours worked will vary. Many educational events and programs are held at schools, libraries, or other community centers.
Responsibilities
Serving as part of the event/program support team
Helping with room and activity set up and cleanup
Helping to set up and serve food for participants
Engaging in games, activities, and crafts with preschool- and school-age children
Directing program participants to classrooms or activity locations
Greeting and welcoming program participants
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Previous experience in event or program support role
Experience working with children
Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks for each event
Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends
Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities and ability to commute to locations within Salt Lake County
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work effectively with preschool and school-age children
Ability to work well with teams and independently
Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed work style
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in stressful situations
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to change tasks quickly

ADA The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing). Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
