Job Summary and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with classroom team to develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for each child.
Follow the HighScope Curriculum.
Demonstrate knowledge of child development.
Work collaboratively with students, parents and staff.
Interact with children to develop positive relationships, extend play experiences, enhance language development and build social emotional skills.
Supervise and evaluate assistant teachers.
Act as a positive role model for children.
Assess students using HighScope Child Observation Record (COR).
Attend all staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences.
Communicate effectively with parents.
Communicate effectively with Program Director and BPS Principal of Early Learning.
Follow all center and BPS district policies as well as state licensing rules and guidelines.
Positively and professionally represent and promote Birmingham Public Schools programs.
Other duties as assigned.
