Schedule:
Hourly, 5.5 hours per day (8:45 am – 2:15 pm) in a 5th grade classroom. Hours may vary based on program needs.
Reports To:
Building Principals, immediate supervisor.
Supervision:
None.
Salary:
$18.50 per hour (starting salary for new hires).
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Diploma.
Highly Qualified status – 60 semester college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, or passing of the Para Exam (request information).
Preferred: Similar job‑related experience, bilingual ability.
Position Summary The Instructional Paraeducator assists and encourages students to learn under the direction of a professional, and helps prepare lessons for all subject areas within the classroom, resource center, computer lab, etc.
Essential Duties
Supervise/assist students during instructional and non‑instructional activities.
Maintain awareness and observe students, assessing behavior and communicating rules, expectations, and consequences.
Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, mission statement, and core values.
Assist in developing and maintaining a positive learning environment.
Adhere to federal, state, and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws.
Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers.
Perform record‑keeping and clerical functions to support the administrator or teacher.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Factors The ability to stand and/or walk for long periods; may be exposed to adverse weather.
Frequent tasks include walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing.
Light work: exerting up to 40 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects.
