Stone Lab Student Assistant Under the general direction of the Stone Lab Manager, assists in all day-to-day operations of the Stone Lab program including but not limited to; assisting with tours of the South Bass Island Lighthouse as part of the Stone Lab outreach program; assisting the dining and residence staff with meal prep and service as well as housekeeping and dorm duties; assisting the operations staff with general maintenance of buildings, upkeep of the program’s vehicles and vessels and basic landscaping and grounds tasks; performs other duties as assigned; Position is a temporary appointment that will last the duration of the student’s courses at Stone Lab. Student Employee’s work days are 3 days-a-week opposite of their courses at Stone Lab. Position located at Put-in-Bay, Ohio.

Minimum Education Must be taking a Stone Lab course concurrently with employment.

Required Qualifications

Ability to work with a diverse population and as a team

Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a background check

Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and some holidays

Desired Qualifications

Ability to lift 30 lbs. desired

Additional Information Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab are part of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences and NOAA Sea Grant, a network of 34 Sea Grant programs dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of marine and Great Lakes resources. Stone Lab is Ohio State’s island campus on Lake Erie, offering year-round research, summer science courses and outreach programming.

Background Check Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
