This position will have an impact on patient, employee and visitor satisfaction by providing superior customer service in a clean safe environment.

Qualifications

Education: Preferred: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience: Prior food service experience with food preparation and assembly; Customer service experience; Cash handling experience.

Other Skills/Knowledge: For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team; Basic math skills; Capability of managing multiple job functions.

Preferred: Knowledge of Food safety (HACCP) standards.

Responsibilities

Prepares and assembles menu items for customers at assigned food station.

Assembles attractive daily menu items, accommodating diet restrictions, allergies, and ethnic preferences as noted by the dietary order.

Tracks and tallies inventory; advises supervisor of inventory counts and orders food and supplies for area.

Follows specified dating procedure for menu items and discards food items after three days or as labeled.

Maintains retail food and beverage stations according to department standards.

Maintains a clean work area and fulfills daily cleaning assignments to ensure compliance with high sanitation standards; handles removal of all trash for Café, kitchen or other areas.

May serve food in cafeteria; delivers trays to patient rooms/areas as needed.

Cleans and sanitizes dishware, pots and pans; completes and documents daily HACCP checks; maintains temperature control logs.

May prepare food from basic recipes; may assist in assembly of Meals on Wheels; may perform cashier functions (rings customer transactions, counts cash, verifies cash drawer at register).

Schedule & Travel Weekend and Holiday rotation is required. Schedule may vary based on department needs.

May be assigned to any of the food service locations.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Evening or Morning Supervisor or the Supervisor of Retail Operations based on primary schedule.

Not responsible for supervising the work of others.

Pay Range $17.00 - $22.88 per hour. (Base hourly wage range)
