Food Service Associate l-Per Diem

Qualifications
Education (Preferred) : High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience :
Prior food service experience with food preparation and assembly
Customer service experience
Cash handling experience
Other Skills/Knowledge (Required) :
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
Basic math skills
Capability of managing multiple job functions.
Other Skills/Knowledge (Preferred) :
Knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP) standards.
License, registration, or certification: N/A

Job Functions
Prepare and assemble food at assigned stations.
Assemble attractive daily menu items, accommodating diet restrictions, allergies, and ethnic preferences per dietary orders.
Track and tally inventory; advise supervisor of counts and order food and supplies as requested; receive and date shipments for storage.
Follow dating procedures for menu items; discard food after three days or as labeled; label and date opened foods.
Maintain retail food and beverage stations per department standards.
Keep a clean work area and fulfill daily cleaning assignments to meet sanitation standards; remove trash from café, kitchen, or other areas.
Serve food in cafeteria and/or deliver trays to patient rooms/areas as needed.
Clean and sanitize dishware, pots, and pans.
Complete and document daily HACCP checks, ensuring compliance with food safety standards; maintain temperature control logs.
Prepare food from basic recipes and assist in the assembly of Meals on Wheels, as required.
Perform cashier functions (where applicable) such as verifying cash, securing the drawer, ringing transactions, and counting cash at shift end.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to perform duties with physical and mental stamina, using the WE CARE behaviors.
Potential contact with hazardous chemicals and equipment.
Schedule and Travel
Weekend and holiday rotation required; schedule may vary based on department needs.
May be assigned to any food service location.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Evening or Morning Supervisor or the Supervisor of Retail Operations based on primary schedule.
No supervisory responsibility for other staff.
Pay Range $17.00 – $22.88 per hour. Actual compensation determined by seniority, education, skill level, geographic location, and other permissible factors. Additional pay practices (shift differentials, call pay, overtime) may apply.
All staff are required to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
