Organization Pay Range: $20.95 /hour

Job Summary Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge property, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior spaces, and executing related tasks such as washing, polishing, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas using hand and powered equipment.

Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, waxer, and polisher.

Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, polishes furniture, and disinfects surfaces.

Washes walls, partitions, air vents, and toilets, and removes debris and trash.

Replaces window treatments, cleans ceiling fixtures, and changes light bulbs using ladders or scaffolds.

Moves furniture to clean spaces behind or under it, using step stools or ladders as needed.

Clears, washes, and disinfects kitchen areas, utensils, and cookware.

Ensures luggage racks operate properly and provides adequate hangers.

Programs TVs, alarm clocks, and in‑room phones for proper channel, volume, and battery backup.

Places amenities into rooms, removes and replaces bedding, inspects mattresses, and handles pull‑out sofas.

Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations and ensuring privacy and security.

Vacuum and mop corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios, and balconies.

Shampoos rugs, carpets, and polishes stair railings on a regular basis; performs scheduled heavy carpet cleaning.

Performs deep cleaning as required (e.g., scheduled based on checkout, pet‑friendly rooms, ADA service animal rooms).

Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms.

Communicates status of cleaned rooms to supervisors via daily assignments or property‑management system.

Accomplishes minor repairs on equipment and reports major repairs or replacements.

Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways.

Loads and unloads trucks, vans, and assists with receipt of supplies from vendors.

Handles inventory and storage of merchandise, using hand trucks and common hand tools (hammer, pliers, box cutter, etc.).

Manages the pass key and other keys; returns all keys at shift end.

Reports issues (e.g., no luggage in stay‑over room, unauthorized pets, lost & found items) to supervisors immediately.

Set‑ups, breakdowns, and clean‑ups of the self‑service breakfast bar; prepares, displays, and replenishes breakfast items during breakfast hours.

Obtains necessary food‑handling certifications where applicable.

Completes all required safety and security training, including knowledge of blood‑borne pathogen protocols.

Performs laundry operations at the facility.

Possesses a valid state driver’s license for travel to other lodging facilities within normal scope of duties.

Obtains NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment and other required certifications.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

No experience required; high‑school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Physical requirements: moderate physical effort, moving furniture, using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment.

Valid state driver’s license may be required.

Must obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment (if not already certified).
