Sanitation Truck Operator

The City of Yankton is currently accepting applications for the position of Sanitation Truck Operator in the Solid Waste Division of the Department of Public Works. An employee in this position is responsible for the efficient performance of tasks requiring the use of acquired knowledge in the handling of waste containers and the care of City equipment. Work involves loading refuse into packer trucks, picking debris, separating recycling materials, and occasionally operating garbage or recycling truck. Regularly scheduled to work at Transfer Station on Saturday on a rotating schedule. During the summer months, this person may fill in on the Street crew on a as needed basis. Candidates must possess a valid South Dakota commercial driver’s license, Class B, or be able to obtain one. Background experience in sanitation or maintenance work is desirable and applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds. This is a regular full-time position. The salary range for this position is $46,892 to $59,365 (Range 28) per year, plus benefits. Applications may be completed on the City’s website www.cityofyankton.org .
