Job Overview This job assumes responsibility for and maintains the weight room and cardiovascular area. Handles opening and closing procedures, cleans equipment, supervises members and fitness areas, builds and maintains own clientele, and tracks and reports clientele progress. Designs fitness programs and performs fitness evaluations to the highest Elmwood Fitness Center standard of professionalism and in accordance with ACSM guidelines.

Education
Required – High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in Exercise related field
Work Experience
Required – None.
Certifications
Required – Certification as a Personal Trainer through a nationally recognized organization such as Accreditation from National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), ACSM, National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), or Cooper Institute.
Other Certifications
Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Job Duties
Build a personal training business and maintain a personal client base.
Perform fitness evaluations and prospect clients professionally at all times.
Complete all administrative duties, voucher sheets, physician clearance forms, and health questionnaires on time in accordance with HIPAA.
Track and report all personal training metrics.
Monitor fitness floor areas by following opening and closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness, greeting members, scanning for unsafe situations, enforcing rules, and offering assistance to members.
Personal train and assess members and design/implement fitness programs according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines for current and potential personal training clients.
Continue self-education to expand knowledge of exercise physiology and personal training business building.

Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized. There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue.
