We are seeking a dedicated and versatile NYS Certified Teachertojoin our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching GED coursestoschool-aged students and facilitating the teaching of employability skills and uncover opportunities for secondary students. This dual-role position requires a passion for education, a commitmenttostudentsuccess, and the abilitytoadapttodiverse learning needs.
Term Dates:
Approximately March 2, 2026 - June 30, 2026
About the A+ Program: The A+ Programoffers a balanced educational experience for students within an 8:1:2 classroom ratio. It is designed for students identified as having Autismor exhibiting neurodivergent characteristics. Students in this program may display social-emotional delays, academic skill deficits, sensory or processing needs, and expressive and receptive communication challenges. The A+ Program promotes individualized supports, evidence-based instruction, and collaboration to help each student reach their fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities:
GED Instruction:
Understand NYS requirements and regulations related to Alternative High School Equivalency Programs.
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the GED curriculum.
Provide individualized and group instruction to help students prepare for the GED exam.
Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student achievement.
Employability Skills Instruction:
Design and deliver curriculum focused on employability skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, andjobsearch strategies.
Organize workshops and seminars that provide students with real-world insights into various career paths.
Guide students in developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of embedded employability skills instruction within program and make necessary adjustments.
Qualifications:
NYS Teaching Certification.
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred).
Experience teaching GED courses and/or employability skills.
Strong understanding of adolescent development and learning strategies.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community partners.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms.
Ability to motivate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of local labor market trends and employment opportunities.
