Job Overview The Girls' Basketball Coach is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the girls' basketball program, including coaching, player development, team coordination, and communication with players, parents, and staff. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to building a competitive and supportive team environment, fostering the personal and athletic growth of student-athletes, and promoting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline.
Responsibilities
Coaching: Lead and assist the Head Coach in the girls' basketball team practices and during games, providing skill development, strategy, and motivation to players.
Player Development: Foster the growth of individual players in both athletic and personal aspects, promoting physical conditioning, mental toughness, and sportsmanship.
Team Management: Develop and implement training sessions, drills, and practice plans that improve player performance and team cohesion.
Game Day Management: Prepare the team for competitions, make real-time decisions during games, and conduct post-game analysis and feedback sessions.
Scheduling & Coordination: Organize and manage the team's practice schedule, game schedule, travel arrangements, and other logistical details.
Communication: Maintain open communication with players, parents, athletic department staff, and other school officials to provide updates and foster team morale.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure that the team follows all safety protocols, academic eligibility requirements, and sportsmanship expectations set by the school, district, and governing athletic organizations.
Growing the Program: Work closely with the Athletic Director and the Middle Schools for retention and preparation for the next season.
Fundraising & Team Support: Assist in fundraising efforts for the program, including organizing events, seeking sponsorships, and managing team budgets.
Mentorship: Serve as a role model and mentor for student-athletes, encouraging academic achievement, discipline, and respect both on and off the court.
Qualifications
Previous experience coaching basketball at the high school or college level preferred.
Strong understanding of basketball techniques, strategies, and game rules.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
Strong commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, parents, and staff.
Must pass a background check and meet all district and state coaching requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to participate in and demonstrate basketball techniques during practice and games.
Ability to lift and carry coaching equipment as needed.
