PT Transit Driver (JETS) – City of Jonesboro, AR
Base pay range $5,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
Pay-type: Part‑time, hourly Reports to: Director of Transportation
General Description Of Position This safety sensitive position (SS) carries out duties pertaining to the safe, courteous and efficient operation of assigned transit vehicle including customer service and fare collection.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Operate buses safely and defensively on pre‑established City routes, maintaining a time schedule.
Pick up passengers and discharge passengers at designated bus stops and assist any special‑needs passengers.
Ensure passengers safety in the event of accident or vehicle break down.
Collect and account for fares.
Provide information and directions for passengers, both on and off the bus.
Maintain ridership information.
Maintain a clean work area (Interior of bus).
Operate a 2‑way mobile radio.
Complete incident and accident report forms.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and report any unsafe condition to my supervisor.
Operating a city vehicle is required for the essential functions.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications Education And Experience High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on‑the‑job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication Skills Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person‑to‑person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
Critical Thinking Skills Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
