Position Summary:

Meets the definition of Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician under Kentucky law. Requires active fire suppression, use of SCBA, and adherence to hazardous duty status. Position involves exposure to hazardous atmospheres, injuries, infectious diseases, and significant physical demands.

Essential Functions:

Operate all fire apparatus and ambulances; provide fire protection and emergency medical care; conduct fire inspections, equipment maintenance, and preventive testing; complete accurate reports; maintain certifications; participate in drills, community outreach, and educational programs; inspect residential and commercial occupancies for code compliance; maintain and service vehicles, equipment, and facility infrastructure.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum 48 hours per week, 24/48 shift; valid driver’s license; good character with no detrimental police record; solid personal appearance; knowledge of modern fire and EMS principles; entry‑level; minimal supervisory skills; analytical, communication, and judgment abilities; ability to complete required training and recertification.

Minimum: Kentucky Certified EMT‑B; Kentucky Certified Career Firefighter; CPR Provider; Hazardous Materials Operations; Valid Driver’s License; ICD 100, 200, 700, 800; Desired: Specialized Rescue Skills; Desired: IFSAC FF I, FF II, HazMat Awareness, HazMat Operations.

Meets the definition of Firefighter, EMT, and Paramedic per Kentucky law. Requires active fire suppression, SCBA use, and hazardous duty status. Exposed to building collapse hazards, hazardous materials, infectious diseases, and physical demands similar to the EMT role.

Similar to EMT role with emphasis on paramedic clinical skills; valid driver's license; good character; physical conditioning; minimal supervisory skills; analytical, communication, and judgment abilities; ability to complete training.
