Responsibilities
Maintains all hard surface floors via mopping as required.
Maintains all carpeted surfaces using assigned equipment.
Move furniture with proper equipment and help as assigned. Arrange furniture in assigned manner for special functions or routine cleaning.
Replenishes supplies as assigned. Keeps patient restrooms stocked with paper supplies.
Gathers and disposes of trash, infectious waste and recycling items properly.
Cleans and disinfects according to specified cleaning procedures in patient and non-patient areas.
Arrange furniture to maintain an orderly and attractive environment.
Sanitizes patient bathrooms, public rest rooms, employee lounges, and exam rooms.
Participates in disaster and emergency evacuation plans as directed; attends training programs regarding new supplies and equipment.
Sanitizes bed, patient room and bathroom upon patient discharge, also makes bed with clean linen.
Verifies that all electrical equipment in the patient care area is in working condition i.e., nurse call, bed control, light bulb. Initiates work order via Housekeeping Supervisor to correct all deficiencies.
Utilizes chemicals properly and safely in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and procedures. Operates equipment safely following manufacturer's and departmental operating procedures.
Checks walls and carpets for soiled spots; washes walls, shelves and windows; dusts furniture and window sills.
Provides spot cleaning of all spills and accidents. Notifies Supervisor if further assistance is required.
Maintains work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition; carries out all routine user upkeep of equipment and promptly reports mechanical failure to Facilities Management.
May provide housekeeping services at off site locations and/or hospital locations.
May be cross trained in other areas.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
Working Environment
Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment.
Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
