High School Diploma required (2 years college preferred). Experienced paraeducator with background assisting a student with disabilities. General knowledge of high school curriculum in reading, writing, math, and science with skills at the K-8 level. Positive, upbeat, caring, flexible individual able to adjust to the physical and emotional needs of the student. Cooperative, dependable, show initiative and accept direction. Knowledge of computer assisted instruction; typing desirable. C.P.I. training with current record on file or willingness to be trained. Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel on both knees, and manage a student if necessary. Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional
Assist student in the general education classroom with note taking, testing, etc. Assist in encouraging independent toileting. Assist with student's participation in small groups as directed by the classroom teacher. Assist in checking and correcting papers and preparing materials under teacher direction. Assist with audio‑visual and computer setups and operation. Monitor the student's instruction activities and assist as appropriate or directed. Assist caseload teacher with daily home‑school assignment book/log. General Responsibilities
May need to assist student at lunch time. Maintain flexible hours of employment and adjust working time to the student's needs as determined by the teacher and staff. Assist the teacher in maintaining inventory of equipment, supplies and materials. Assist in maintaining files and records. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, special education coordinator, and building administrator. Deadline for applications: Until Filled. Per School Safety Legislation, each individual who is employed full‑time or part‑time, or is assigned to regularly and continuously work under contract, shall be fingerprinted for the purpose of performing a criminal history background check. Prior to employment, the selected candidate must complete the fingerprinting process at the applicant's expense.
