Successful completion of the Earn While You Learn NCT Training Program within 8 weeks of hire
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification (valid at time of hire or completed during training)
Physical Requirements This position requires sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods, repetitive typing, lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to or over 50 pounds, standing or walking with objects up to 10 pounds (occasionally up to 25 pounds), working in confined spaces, and exposure to risks such as moving patients, equipment, hazardous chemicals, blood‑borne pathogens, and violence.
Shift and Schedule Must be able to work three 12.5‑hour shifts per week (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.) and may be required to work some weekends and holidays.
Job Summary This position works one‑on‑one with a Registered Nurse to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assisting with ADLs, ordering and stocking supplies, responding to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Responsibilities also include moving patients from bed to wheelchair or stretcher, handling specimens for labs, and preparing patients for surgical procedures. The role emphasizes prompt, compassionate, patient‑centered care within a collaborative team environment, using the nursing process and comprehensive patient‑centered care plans to enhance outcomes and satisfaction while complying with University policies and regulations. Essential functions require the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds daily and stand, walk, and sit for long periods.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Compassionate, honest, trustworthy, strong work ethic, teamwork, direction, communication, confidence in fast‑paced environments, basic CPR knowledge, and understanding of abnormal vital sign parameters. Requires strong organizational skills, prioritization, basic computer navigation, and internet knowledge. Valid AHA Basic Life Support certification required at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications Previous hospital experience preferred.
