UM Launchpad at the University of Montana

(Helena College, University of Montana). The position is full-time and tenure-track, beginning August 2026 for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Position Summary Helena College seeks a full-time, tenure-track

Education Instructor

for the Donaldson Campus. The Education Instructor is primarily responsible for teaching education and program-related courses and leading in education program development and growth. The college partners with The University of Montana and The University of Montana Western to provide opportunities for students to complete their bachelor’s degrees in Elementary and Secondary Education. The Education Department will be led by this position.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching education courses in face-to-face, blended, online, and virtual formats.

Maintaining a regular on-campus presence to build relationships with students, colleagues, and transfer partners.

Teaching 30–32 credits per academic year (typically five courses per semester, ten courses total).

Ensuring effective instruction through student evaluation, learning outcome assessment, and planning at the departmental and institutional level.

Maintaining accessible course materials and using the Canvas LMS for gradebook and instruction.

Participating in professional development and college service activities.

Additional Duties This position may teach First Year Seminar Courses for Helena College students, as needed to maintain a required course load:

Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to Helena College’s mission, vision, and strategic goals; ability to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with students, faculty, and community stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Effective teaching strategies with evidence-based approaches, assessment, and outcomes evaluation.

Willingness to engage in diverse and inclusive settings and seek continual improvement.

Master’s degree in Education or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).

Ability to maintain regular physical presence on the Helena College Donaldson campus.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Education or related field.

Two years of teaching experience at a two-year college level (preferred).

Experience teaching online and using a Learning Management System (Canvas, Moodle, D2L, etc.) and educational technology.

Work Schedule The regular work week is typically Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, with variations based on program needs. Faculty obligations begin four days before fall semester and extend two days after spring commencement. Refer to the Helena Teachers’ Union CBA for full professional responsibilities.
