The Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) develops advanced electrohydraulic flight control systems for military aircraft worldwide. As a Senior Machinist in MFCD, you will operate precise machining centers to produce high‑quality components that enable reliable flight for the aircraft lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Set up and run multiple production machines, performing cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming operations on semi‑complex jobs.
Align and fasten work using standard fixtures and established methods.
Install and adjust cutting tools consistent with material specifications.
Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts per documentation.
Operate hand and power tools to deburr precision parts in accordance with engineering blueprints and route sheets.
Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, and comparators, and visually inspect for burrs or damaged surfaces.
Maintain equipment regularly to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements.
Accurately perform statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
Actively implement lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Qualifications
Three years related machining experience with limited guidance in a team environment.
Able to make machine setups and read blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
Able to effectively apply lean initiatives and demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Interprets reports and uses job‑specific software applications, including employee self‑service systems.
Compensation
Pay Range: $26.65/hr to $40.25/hr
