Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Winston Salem, NC.

What You’ll Earn
Hourly Pay: $30.00 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Sign On Bonus: $1,750 after 30 days and $1,750 after 90 days
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
Basic tools required
Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
Three years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
All other certifications required by location (required)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
Must have at least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
Additional Requirements
Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers covering the last 3 years)
Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging/built‑in customer background requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
Standard and preventive maintenance
Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostics computers when applicable
Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
Replace defective components as instructed
Work unsupervised on most tasks
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Other support duties as required, including Service Island support
SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete two OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required (predominant OEM of fleet mix within 365 days)
