Position Overview The responsibilities of this position include daily, positive communication with the Indigo team as it relates to the handling of all tasks presented to the team members. Other major responsibilities include the operation of the web based digital printing press according to established procedures. Will provide strong and collaborative assistance with the Pre-Press Technician in achieving desired color and image designs. Responsible to maintain inventory levels of all consumables and supplies. Will perform preventative maintenance of equipment. Required to review product quality during set press set up the print run, ensuring the proper adjustment requirements to remain in specification. Responsible for maintaining all logs and production output reports, as required. Will provide help to management including hiring and training of future team members.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate direction regarding the handling of the daily schedule.
Positively rise to the challenges that are faced during the course of the shift(s).
Answers team member questions, help with team member problems and oversee team
Prepares and produces orders on the digital press based on customer specifications, work order and graphic files provided by the Graphics Department.
Ensures printed color matches the desired target and collaborates with the Pre-Press Technician on all file corrections/press adjustments to achieve the desired goal.
Correctly performs maintenance, on schedule and according to procedure.
Performs adjustments accurately, efficiently and according to procedure.
Monitors the printing process to maintain print quality.
Understands machine capabilities.
Ensures proper handling of consumables to maintain the predictability of the process.
Performs routine adjustments as necessary.
Collaborates with team members, management and sales department to trouble shoot challenging orders and/or projects.
Follows published production schedule to meet customer expectation on delivery dates.
Understands and prepares paperwork related to order/project.
Required to maintain logs according to procedure.
Monitors supply inventories for the purpose of ensuring availability of products required to complete the job.
Other Important Responsibilities
Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant project situations.
Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness Programs.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
Ability to follow schedule and alter schedule should the need arise to do so.
High school or vocational/technical school diploma or certificate.
Additional courses in Print Production or Operations, a plus.
Courses in Chemistry, Electronics or Color Theory, a plus.
A minimum 7 years (or more) of experience in a job shop, printing environment; preferable running web presses, digital web press experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check own work through established quality inspection routines, adherence to procedure, keen visual discrimination of copy and color, print quality analysis and judgment.
Experience with a spectrophotometer is a must.
Highly organized and prefers a clean and orderly work environment.
Understanding of Color Theory and practice, a plus.
Experience in operating mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
Understanding of the basic concept of prepress.
Analytical approach to problem solving.
Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load.
Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative.
