Senior Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic

Base Pay Range
$35.00/hr - $40.00/hr
Position Summary The organization is seeking a conscientious, detail‑oriented Senior Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic (A&P) in Jacksonville, FL, with extensive experience in propeller‑driven general aviation aircraft. This role serves as a technical leader, responsible for performing complex inspections and repairs while mentoring junior mechanics and ensuring strict regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Lead and perform advanced inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on piston and turboprop aircraft systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and system failures across multiple aircraft platforms
Mentor junior mechanics and assist with training new technicians and implementing process improvements
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, safety standards, and company procedures
Accurately complete and maintain maintenance logs, repair documentation, inventory records, and customer logbooks
Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to plan maintenance schedules and source required parts
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of hands‑on experience maintaining piston and turboprop‑powered general aviation aircraft (e.g., Cirrus, Piper, Cessna, Mooney, Beechcraft, Pilatus)
Inspection Authorization (IA) Certification (required)
Prior experience supervising or leading maintenance teams
Proven experience inspecting and maintaining aircraft components such as de‑icing systems, hydraulic systems, landing gear, and flight control systems
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues efficiently
Proficiency interpreting blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, IPCs, service bulletins, and other technical documentation
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments
Solid mechanical aptitude with strong mathematical and problem‑solving skills
Excellent time management and organizational abilities with the capacity to multitask
Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and customer‑facing documentation
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
Experience using technical manual database software
Ownership of a basic aircraft maintenance tool set and toolbox
