Straw Machine Operator

JOB SUMMARY:

Operate straw machine line(s) to produce plastic straw products, perform quality checks, pack, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform timely checks to ensure only quality product is manufactured.

Maintain established cycle settings on assigned machines to ensure production quantity.

Stop production if inferior product is being produced.

Perform all assigned quality tests to measure product quality (e.g., straw length, diameter, color, straightness).

Check orders to ensure correct product, boxes, and cartons are used for scheduled jobs.

Comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and practices, including lock‑out/tag‑out of production equipment when required.

Diagnose and determine causes for machine malfunctions, and troubleshoot issued machines.

Immediately respond to defective goods.

Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.

Fill out labor sheets at end of shift noting production and downtime using the company computer.

Work independently and as a team member.

Follow directives from leadership, managers, and supervisors to sustain productivity and target levels.

Ensure all company policies and procedures, including manufacturing and safety policies, are followed at all times.

Collaborate with plant and safety leadership.

Complete mandated manufacturing and safety training on equipment to maximize output efficiencies safely.

Support all current and new product introductions.

Perform other duties as assigned by WinCup leadership.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/​SKILLS

One year in a manufacturing environment tending a production machine preferred.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to speak, read, and write English for job‑specific paperwork.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently listen and exchange information.

Observe and assess information in a fast‑paced environment.

Use production equipment and machinery frequently.

Move or transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring bending, twisting, and reaching.

Remain stationary for extended periods of time.

Stand for long periods (up to 12‑hour shifts).

Talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work space contains moving mechanical parts.

Indoor manufacturing environment may expose workers to extreme heat.

Work environment contains loud noises and odors, sometimes with airborne particles.

Wear PPE at all times, including hairnet, beard net, hearing protection, and safety glasses with side guards.

Work 8+, 10+, or 12+ hour shifts as designated.

Work weekdays, weekends, and overtime as designated.
