Position
Permanent Full Time Experienced Master Level Diesel Technician – Mobile, AL (Ryder Fleet)
Salary & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $31.35
Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
Hours: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Responsibilities
Train SBTIII within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses (within 365 days)
Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties: standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers/software
Conduct remote triage with RCRC and customers for roadside breakdowns
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
Instruct and advise other technicians on procedures and diagnostics
Coach and mentor lower-level technicians
Advise shop management and technicians on shop repairs
Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
Follow all safety, DOT, Mot compliance guidelines
Perform other support duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree (preferred)
Basic tools proficiency
Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance and diagnostics
Advanced skilled level repairs (major engine repairs, diesel after-treatment, fuel injection repairs) required
Four (4) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
All other certifications required by location (e.g., ASE Master Mechanic)
Additional Requirements
Perform all Tier 3 tasks
Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Availability for shift work, weekends, and on-call duty
Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
Operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently
Minimum tool requirement
Road test vehicles as necessary
Coach/mentor/influence others
Obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Ryder Road Test, and background/motor vehicle check
