Location North Central US Customer Center Locations - Elmhurst, Illinois - Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin - Livonia, Michigan - Indianapolis, Indiana - Hamilton, Ohio. In addition, we often need technicians who live well outside of our customer center location. For example, in Green Bay, WI or South Bend, IN. This role is typically not eligible for relocation. If a position is not currently open in an area, we will reach out to qualified candidates once an opening is available. We look forward to talking with you!
Schedule Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:30 PM
Pay Range Starting Pay will range between $25.00 - $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, hourly position. $3,000 Sign On Bonus!

Job Overview The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment. In addition, you need to have knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed air equipment, interact with customers to address issues, collaborate with Service Coordinator on parts and supplies, and assist/train apprentices and field service technicians.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, including hands‑on work to assure equipment operates to customer’s requirement with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
Increase Ingersoll Rand customers’ awareness of how Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions—such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection—can benefit their operations.
Requirements
2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI in prior 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the prior 3 years).
All service technicians are required to be on‑call; during the first 90 days you will not be on‑call. Afterward you will be on‑call for 24/7 coverage during 1‑week periods, typically every 4 weeks.
Position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling, as well as lifting or moving weight in accordance with safety policy.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Core Competencies
Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
Install advanced network systems (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
Basic vibration troubleshooting.
Basic air quality (system compressor/dryer – air treatment).
Operate Microsoft Office software and basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
Preferences
Industrial air compressor maintenance knowledge.
EPA certification.
Veterans/Active‑Duty military encouraged to apply.
Travel & Work Arrangements
Service Technicians will travel daily within a 3‑hour radius of the service area.
A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
