North Central US Customer Center Locations – Elmhurst, Illinois; Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Livonia, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Hamilton, Ohio. ‘In‑house’ field service may also be required for locations such as Green Bay, WI or South Bend, IN. This role is typically not eligible for relocation.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Range:

$25.00 – $35.00 per hour (full‑time hourly position). Sign‑on bonus: $3,000.

Job Overview The Field Service Technician for Ingersoll Rand’s Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw and reciprocating and/or Centac and ECC air compressors, along with additional compressed air system components. You will use precision measuring tools for diagnostic troubleshooting of compressed air equipment and must understand the operations and parts manuals for all equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed‑air equipment and address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns.

Collaborate with Service Coordinator to order and gather parts and supplies necessary for installations and repairs.

Assist and train apprentices and Field Service Technicians.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.

Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed air systems, ensuring equipment operates to customer requirements with limited guidance.

Increase customer awareness of Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions such as Preventive Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection.

Requirements

2+ years’ experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.

Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI in the last 5 years, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions in the last 3 years).

On‑call availability (no on‑call for the first 90 days); on‑call weeks may occur every 4 weeks or more frequently as determined by the hiring manager.

Physical ability to lift and/or move weights in accordance with safety policy; use hands, fingers, walk, stoop, and kneel regularly.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Core Competencies

Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.

Install advanced network systems (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).

Basic vibration troubleshooting.

Basic air quality (compressor/dryer – air treatment).

Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network basics.

Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.

Preferences

Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.

EPA Certification.

Veterans/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.

Travel & Work Arrangements

Service Technicians will travel daily within a 3‑hour radius of the service area.

A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
