Precinct 4 is seeking a motivated and highly driven Mechanic to join our Road & Bridge (R&B) team. As a Mechanic you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all machinery and vehicles.
You must have ability work diligently fast-paced environment strong commitment safety. A strong work ethic, initiative, willingness to learn, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. Candidate must have solid knowledge of basic mechanic’s tools, service, and diagnostic equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Work diligently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety. Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately. Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade. Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.). Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades. Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks). Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems. Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records. Maintain equipment and tools in good condition. Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary. Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle end users. Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or Three to six months related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience. Six months to one year of related experience or training Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Candidates are required to obtain a CDL within 3 months of employment. NOTE

Work is on sites involving pervasive hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations; speeding traffic; loud and constant noise; and regular exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and combustible materials. Required to work outdoors on varied and often unstable terrain involving exposure to varying weather conditions of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Some working conditions require special precautions and the use of protective gear (e.g., hard hats, respirator masks, gloves, etc.). Physical Demands
Essential functions involve significant physical demands related to repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted, 100 pounds with assistance rarely; carrying tools, materials, and equipment over rough terrain; climbing, reaching and bending. Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, drive, hear, bend, stoop, twist, and balance; need the ability to occasionally kneel and crawl; need the ability to grasp manual controls and the ability to use foot controls and operate gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment. Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
