Harris County
Harris County Precinct 3 is seeking a Facilities Assistant to support the upkeep and functionality of a community center. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the facility, while also assisting with general center activities and providing support to staff and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform daily cleaning tasks including trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
Sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
Conduct minor repairs and maintenance such as:
Changing light bulbs and air filters
Unclogging drains and fixing leaks
Replacing switches, applying caulk, and repairing doors
Report major facility damage or safety concerns.
Assist with room setup and breakdown for programs and events.
Provide support to visitors and groups, ensuring a welcoming environment.
Answer phones and assist with basic office tasks as needed.
Secure facilities after hours by locking doors and setting alarms.
Be available to work before, during, or after emergencies or disasters, as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience (1–6 months).
Licensure
Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and supplies.
Understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
Ability to perform minor repairs and troubleshoot facility issues.
Awareness of occupational health and safety standards.
Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and use hands/arms.
Occasionally required to sit, talk, and listen.
Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Visual requirements include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in humid or dusty environments.
Noise level is typically moderate.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
