Eaton's Electrical Sector – Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies division is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician onsite at our Asheville, NC manufacturing facility.
What You’ll Do
Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to develop schematics, wiring diagrams, motions, clearances, and other features of an apparatus or customer equipment design.
Calculate fits, tolerances, strengths, weights, electrical, circuit parameters, and similar items.
Anticipate manufacturing and/or customer requirements and problems and develop design solutions.
Coordinate the drafting work and be responsible for all drawings pertinent to design of customer order projects.
Consult with engineers or higher classified personnel on problems relating to a design or customer order project.
Fabricate more complex (model) prototypes; set up more complex laboratory tests or experiments requiring ingenuity.
Gather review and interpret data for presentation to engineers or managers; check work to assure conformance with quality standards.
Troubleshoot to resolve customer and manufacturing problems; data gathering to provide solutions.
Complete other assignments and projects as assigned.
Qualifications Basic (required) Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in engineering or similar technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Three months of experience using AutoCAD (2D or 3D) or similar modeling tools.
Must currently reside within a 50‑mile radius of the posting location (active‑duty military exempt).
Position does not sponsor immigration, CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, H‑1B, O‑1, E‑3, I‑485, or other visa/immigration benefits.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in engineering, drafting & design, or a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
One year of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong understanding of math, physics, chemistry, and machine design theory.
Salaries are competitive and based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications. The expected annual salary range for this role is $53,253.00 – $78,104.40 per year.
