NOW is the time to join The Better Food Company! We’re looking for someone to provide maintenance and repair of the plant’s machinery, grounds, buildings and equipment. This is the entry‑level position in the maintenance classification and is expected to perform the job functions under minimal supervision.

Sign-On Bonus Up to $6,000: $3,000 paid after 90 days of full‑time employment with no attendance or performance issues, and $3,000 paid after 6 months of full‑time employment with no attendance or performance issues.

Schedule This position will work 6 days per week, 3 pm – 11 pm.

Responsibilities The responsibilities include:

Evaluate and identify potential problems, repair and maintain electrical/mechanical machinery and equipment.

Evaluate and identify potential problems, repair and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC and plumbing systems inside and outside the plant.

Install new and/or relocate old equipment.

Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to buildings and grounds as advised.

Cleans and repairs boilers; identify and overhauls crane systems.

Complete preventative maintenance as assigned and complete required documentation.

TIG welding with mild steel and/or stainless steel.

Participate in project improvements and team meetings.

Ensure regular attendance per company policy.

Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Safety

Maintain highest standard of safety for all functions and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.

Perform daily inspection of all required PPE (slip‑resistant/steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, shields, aprons) to ensure good overall condition.

Acquire and maintain company industrial truck and lift certification and perform all functions in accordance with OSHA and company standards.

Perform proper housekeeping and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Perform daily inspection of equipment with proper documentation.

Quality

Maintain company standards for cleanliness, food and equipment safety, and efficient productivity.

Perform all required inspections of equipment and products per specification with proper documentation.

Ensure compliance with quality, food safety and HACCP support programs; assure conformity to all company, customer and government standards.

Teamwork

Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with team members and management.

Work respectfully with all team members to ensure safety, quality, production and support of our products and goals daily.

Actively participate in department/shift/team meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.

Functions

Practice integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all team members and visitors.

Identify potential problems, repair and maintain equipment as listed above.

Assist with team meetings with all coworkers.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Mechanical aptitude and accurate troubleshooting ability are required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Must obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and maintain it per company and OSHA standards.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with team members, management, customers and vendors.

Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation, ability to use accurate tools and good math skills.

Ability to read and interpret written and verbal direction while working safely and productively in a fast‑paced environment.

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required; an industrial maintenance degree preferred.

Must pass a proficiency test with a minimum score of 80 %.

Working Conditions/Environment The role is in a manufacturing environment that requires speaking, reading, comprehending, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, grasping, climbing and bending. Must be able to push/pull 150 lbs short distances and lift up to 75 lbs repetitively. Standing required for up to 12‑hour shifts with regular breaks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. Employees are regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non‑toxic industrial waste and scrap. The noise level in the plant is loud. Required PPE: slip‑resistant/steel‑toed shoes, earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair) in accordance with GMP and safety standards.
