What You Will Do Perform complex hand or machine sheet‑metal operations to form, fit, fabricate and repair a variety of developmental aerospace details, parts, assemblies and related tools.

Assist other trades in fabricating complex major assemblies involving sheet‑metal operations or techniques.

Set up and operate fabricating machines—shears, brakes, bending rolls, punch and drill presses—to cut, bend and straighten sheet‑metal.

Safely utilize hand tools, including grinders, drills, hammers and punches.

Use a wide variety of measurement tools and demonstrate depth of knowledge and skill.

Create drawings or sketches from oral descriptions, read and visualize 3‑D objects from drawings, sketches or blueprints.

Apply basic math, shop mathematics, trigonometry and geometry to work from complex drawings and sketches.

Work in adverse conditions: confined spaces, heights from ladders or man lifts, and on aging infrastructure.

Work onsite on the 3rd shift (midnight – 7:00 am); 6.5 hours of shift work with pay for 8 hours.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

2+ years of trade training.

Ability to operate sheet‑metal working machines and use precision measuring instruments such as rotary tables, micrometers, vernier calipers and trammel points.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years’ experience working with sheet‑metal fabrication.

Experience with shop mathematics—trigonometry and geometry—and working from complicated drawings and sketches.

Proficiency with measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, protractors, calipers and dividers.

Under direction of a leader/supervisor, make and repair sheet‑metal parts; assemble structures using welding, riveting, seaming and other metal‑joining techniques.
