Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Hourly Pay:
$29.50 per hour
Certification Bonus:
$100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus:
Ryder pays you up to $500 every quarter – four times per year
Sign On Bonus:
$1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
Schedule:
Monday through Friday
Hours:
Second Shift 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and component repairs
Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years)
Important Note Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check, a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
Perform preventive maintenance
Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
Replace defective components as instructed
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., service island support)
