Job Summary The

Machine Operator

is responsible for operating bakery-pastry machinery and its associated downstream equipment. The

Machine Operator

will monitor and control the continuous flow of product throughout the production process, from mixing ingredients to oven baking to product packaging. The Machine Operator will adjust control panel settings as needed and collaborate with team members, maintenance, and supervisors to maintain a safe work environment, adhering to Crown Bakeries GMPs and established procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate assigned machinery safely and efficiently.

Equipment may include oven systems, mixer equipment, proofers, laminators, boilers, slicers, packaging and/or bagging machines.

Maintain and adjust freezer‑retard temperature and set timer to required setting.

Monitor the process to ensure continuous bakery product flow through conveyor systems.

Operate various PLC panels to control proper flow of product.

Troubleshoot process and make speed adjustments.

Document weight, product yield, downtime and additional metrics.

Collaborate with the in‑line mixer to ensure continuous product flow.

Adjust settings to ensure product standards, specifications, and customer requirements are met.

Read and work with technology to monitor machine functions.

Notify the lead or supervisor of any equipment problems immediately.

Communicate with supervisors, co‑workers, and other departments.

Perform routine preventative maintenance and changeovers.

Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Attend all company training sessions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Food Safety Responsibilities

Follow all GMPs, food defense, and quality policies as outlined by Crown Bakeries.

Ensure all GMP and food hygiene and safety standards are in compliance.

Report all food safety incidents such as GMP violations, ingredient and product contamination, metal detector, screen or magnet deviations, glass breakage, and pest harborage.

Qualifications

Flexible work schedule including start times and weekend work.

Good verbal, written, and mathematical skills.

Willing to acquire a wide variety of skills to assist the surrounding team and fully understand the baking processes.

Patience to maintain and facilitate a series of continuous events.

Problem‑solving ability, learning on the fly, process and technical learning.

Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Preferred experience in food manufacturing setting.

Knowledge of baking processes, equipment, and terminology is desired.

Work Environment

Noisy environment.

Indoor work.

Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasional up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Wet, humid, cold, or hot conditions.

Work around machinery.
