Labor & Employment Paralegal – McAfee & Taft

Salary Range:

$65,000.00 – $80,000.00

Position Summary The Labor & Employment Paralegal supports multiple attorneys in the firm with a high degree of responsibility for project management and implementation.

Essential Functions

Prepare, review, edit, proofread, and file technical and legal documents

Receive and distribute mail, prepare outgoing mail

Electronic Case Filing (ECF) for federal and state courts

Prepare court filings for state and federal cases

Prepare depositions (create exhibit binders, conduct background searches)

Review daily dockets for potential new cases and clients

Organize and maintain case files, attorney notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and other materials

Coordinate and communicate with clients and opposing counsel

Maintain calendars and schedules for attorneys

Team approach to workload with attorneys and other paralegals

Prepare and execute client invoices; track collections and billing

Assist attorneys in trial preparation (travel, motions, exhibits, experts, witnesses)

Administratively support firm business development

Draft and edit pleadings (complaints, counterclaims, third‑party complaints, motions to dismiss or strike)

Prepare PowerPoint presentations for client trainings

Prepare for Labor & Employment seminars and events throughout the year

Coordinate and track project activities

Education & Experience Education: Preferred – Associate’s degree in paralegal or legal studies; equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of legal experience; 4+ years preferred.

Computer Skills Skilled with MS Office Suite and related office products.

Certificates & Licenses Paralegal certification from an ABA‑approved program preferred.

Other Requirements Excellent problem‑solving, research, organizational, and communication skills; strong command of English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, style; initiative; confidentiality; ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment; punctuality.
