Assistant Controller – manufacturing/distribution industry
Our client, an industry-leading distributor, is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller. This role is 100% onsite with some travel and national scope, and is responsible for approximately $1.3 billion in billing across multiple locations. The ideal candidate has solid accounting skills, is comfortable improving processes, and has experience within a distribution, manufacturing, or multi-location company. Assistant Controller - Up to $165k all in compensation Responsibilities: Lead monthly and year-end close processes alongside staff accountants Review and prepare journal entries and detailed account reconciliations Analyze complex financial data to generate insights and operational reports Support internal and external audits with documentation and controls review Investigate billing variances and perform ad hoc financial analysis Identify and implement process improvements across accounting functions Act as a key liaison between field operations and finance to ensure accuracy and transparency Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Accounting preferred) 3+ years of accounting experience in a complex or multi-entity environment Advanced Excel skills (VBA experience highly preferred) Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and internal controls Willingness to travel ~10% to U.S. warehouse locations (e.g., Chicago, Houston, Connecticut, Virginia) Seniority level
