Position Status: Full-time

Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday; 8:00 am‑5:00 pm (may include before/during/after hours, emergency calls)

Salary: Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience (pay basis monthly)

Job Summary The Plumber III performs journeyman level skills in the installation, maintenance, remodeling, repair, and servicing of plumbing systems and utilities in a mechanisms utility distribution center. Responsible for prompt performance of assigned plumbing and related duties, and maintenance and repair of utility mains.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Install, repair, and replace waterlines, air lines, gas lines, sewer lines, sump pumps, sewer injectors, domestic water pumps, water heaters, piping, traps, valves, vents, washbowls, sinks, toilet fixtures, fittings, faucets, drains, laboratory sinks and associated underground utilities.

Unstop clogged lines.

Cut and thread steel pipe and solder or braze copper pipe.

Maintain and repair DI and RO water systems.

Connect and maintain hot‑water units and gas heaters, and check for safety.

Complete annual gas‑line testing and inspections.

Perform related duties as assigned by the plumbing supervisor, plumbing leader, or any other superior.

Assist with simple estimates of time and materials required for a job.

Pick up materials and supplies from vendors.

Assist other OFM shops and University departments.

Respond to on‑call emergencies before/during/after normal hours (fires, electrical outages, floods, icy conditions, and other campus emergencies).

Attend shop staff meetings, safety training or meetings, plant operations and maintenance training courses.

Train personnel on operational and maintenance procedures as required.

Drive a UTA‑owned vehicle.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D.

Three (3) years of skilled journeyman‑level plumbing experience.

State of Texas journeyman license required.

Valid Texas driver’s license.

Ability to execute oral and written communication in English.

Preferred Qualifications

State of Texas back‑flow prevention tester certification required.

Five (5) or more years of skilled journeyman‑level plumbing.

Knowledge of how to operate backhoe and heavy equipment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to complete all required physical tasks.
