CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift
Location : East Syracuse, NY
Pay : $24.00 - $29.00 per hour (plus 10% shift differential)
Shift : 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Summary : We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team on 2nd shift. This role is responsible for producing precision machined parts by setting up and operating CNC milling machines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate multi-axis CNC milling machines using blueprints or process sheets.
Obtain first-piece approval from quality inspection.
Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools.
Diagnose and troubleshoot machining issues; monitor tooling for wear and replace as needed.
Plan machining operations by interpreting work orders, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
Enter machine instructions, set tool registers, offsets, and prove part programs.
Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Document production and quality logs; communicate shift updates.
Train other CNC machinists as needed.
Adhere to all safety policies and maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or technical school equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience setting up and operating CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
