Sr Mobile Diesel Mechanic – Team 2802

Fleet Services by Cox Automotive . The role focuses on performing DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, and advanced diagnostics on mobile fleet vehicles in a field environment.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
Adjust and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, and differential components.
Diagnose and test equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic tools.
Conduct road tests to verify equipment performance.
Manage part inventory, maintain company service vehicles, and conduct pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Document work in the company’s TRAIT application, upload pictures, and complete DOT forms accurately.
Work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet production standards under a high‑productivity environment.
Communicate with management and customers, providing troubleshooting and resolution guidance.
Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of related experience (or an alternative combination of education and 3‑7 years experience).
Possession of the hand tools necessary for the job.
Must obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
Must obtain ASE 608/609 certification within 18 months.
Successful DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or a valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining).
Minimum age 21 and valid state driver’s license.
Ability to lift, bend, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
Certifications (required & preferred)
Required within 18 months:
ASE T8 (PMI), ASE 608/609.
Preferred:
ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2.
Skills & Abilities
Analytical reasoning and problem solving for complex diagnostic challenges.
Effective communication of information to customers and team members.
Decision‑making based on available data and safety considerations.
Proficiency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and diesel equipment.
