Grinder Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Mount Orab, OH
Shift:
3rd shift
– 11 pm – 7 am. Training will be conducted on the 1st shift (7 am – 3 pm).
Responsibilities
Grinds metal objects such as castings, billets, machine parts, and sheet metal subassemblies to smooth or rough‑finish objects to specifications.
Removes excess metal, scratches, or burs by feeding metal pieces against a rotating grinding wheel.
Examines and measures workpiece for conformance to standards.
Selects and mounts abrasive wheels of different grit sizes to obtain specified finish.
Verifies correct product using job traveler.
Inspects a wide variety of commercial and manufactured parts for compliance with engineering specifications and company standards.
Uses inspection methodology and records all results.
Interprets complex drawings, process sheets and company standards.
Works with quality and management on any manufacturing issues/defects.
Monitors machine performance and performs preventative maintenance to assure continuity of production.
Ensures all fluid levels are maintained on all equipment.
Uses precision measuring tools specific to job.
Reads part drawings with sectional views.
Utilizes overhead crane to lift, position and transport part.
Maintains plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance.
Recommends improvements for product and processes.
Qualifications
Demonstrates personal leadership; actively participates in or leads problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
Demonstrates flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
Interacts professionally with customers and employees.
Understands and follows basic verbal and written instructions.
Possesses basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Prior experience grinding equipment, machines, and products is required.
Utilizes power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties.
Has a Technical Program Certificate, or 1+ years of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
