About the Job Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit a Paralegal to join a highly respected, mission‑driven civil litigation law firm based in Los Angeles. This firm is nationally recognized for its advocacy work and is deeply committed to supporting survivors through compassionate, trauma‑informed legal representation.
This is a hands‑on paralegal role supporting attorneys across all phases of complex civil litigation. The Paralegal will play a critical role in case investigation, document preparation, discovery, and trial support while maintaining consistent, empathetic communication with clients. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and motivated by meaningful work in a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support attorneys throughout all phases of the civil litigation process, from case intake through trial
Conduct case investigations, including damages interviews and research on institutional and individual defendants
Draft and summarize legal documents such as medical, educational, employment, deposition, damages, and abuse history records
Prepare discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, and client correspondence
Organize and maintain paper and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Assist with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation, including exhibit and transcript management
Maintain trauma‑informed communication with clients and witnesses, documenting all interactions thoroughly
Manage multiple active cases while tracking deadlines and prioritizing competing demands
Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure timely, high‑quality work product
Contribute to continuous process improvements and a collaborative, mission‑centered team culture
Required Skills
Paralegal certificate required
Three or more years of experience as a Paralegal in a litigation‑focused environment preferred
Experience supporting attorneys across multiple stages of litigation
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise summaries and narratives
High level of empathy, professionalism, and discretion when working with trauma‑exposed individuals
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a high‑volume, deadline‑driven caseload
Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat; SharePoint experience is a plus
Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in handling confidential information
