BMKS is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for our Baton Rouge office. Our Legal Assistants support multiple attorneys and are assigned various responsibilities, some of which are described below. Successful candidates must have excellent time management skills, be technically savvy, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment efficiently. Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Specifications/Requirements
Experience as a Legal Assistant;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint);
Knowledge of Adobe, dictation, timekeeping, and client management software, such as Legal Tracker, Check Mate, and Summation;
Knowledge of Louisiana court’s e-filing systems/experience with filing pleadings, motions, etc.;
Managing attorney’s calendar and schedule;
Open and close files and all associated tasks;
Managing the electronic case files;
Assisting attorneys with time entries;
Preparing attorney and office expenses;
Transcribe, type, copy, fax, and email documents and correspondence;
Format, proofread, and send client reports;
Schedule depositions and mediations;
Use strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with attorneys, colleagues, and clients;
Prioritize, organize, and manage heavy workload with deadlines;
Strong organizational skills;
Ability to maintain and handle confidential information;
Ability and willingness to quickly adapt to and learn new technology, as needed;
Assisting with general office duties.
