A large company that works in a decentralized environment, each Profit Center (PC) is run by a Profit Center Manager as a small business. A typical PC is the heart of our business with a warehouse, counter, sales office, and optional showroom. PCs conduct business under unique trade names and offer a customized approach honoring each local marketplace.
Hughes Supply is one of those trade names and is looking for a Delivery Driver – Non CDL at the Buckeye, AZ location.
About the Role Pay for Delivery Driver – Non CDL is between $20 and $24 per hour at this location.
You will operate trucks safely and in compliance with company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management. You will load the truck with Hajoca merchandise, secure the load, ensure the necessary equipment is available, understand shipping documents, ensure order accuracy, unload correct merchandise, obtain signatures, collect and secure outstanding payments, resolve discrepancies, provide sales leads, inspect the truck, advise management of mechanical problems, complete daily vehicle inspection, return keys, complete safety training, and perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered.
Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck.
Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it.
Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
Load the truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location.
Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
At the end of the workday, complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location.
Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
About You
Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. as a non‑CDL driver.
Be at least 21 years old.
Possess a proper and valid driver’s license.
Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years.
Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles generally, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co‑workers.
Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
Be able to learn to operate warehouse material‑handling equipment.
Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
Read, write, speak and understand English.
Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
